Who doesn’t love a beautiful rainbow? A rainbow craft is a surefire way to brighten my day! If you are the same way, this easy rainbow popsicle stick craft will be perfect for you.
It is also an excellent project to do with small children.
To make these, you will use just a few supplies that you probably already have in your art closet, including popsicle sticks, card stock, and googly eyes.
It won’t take much time to make your own rainbow cloud.
Kids will love to create these adorable crafts, and they can do a lot of this project on their own with a little bit of supervision.
You can use this fun project to help little ones learn their colors and understand the rainbow. Are you ready? Let’s grab our supplies and get started!
Supplies You’ll Need
- Rainbow popsicle sticks
- Unpainted popsicle stick*
- White card stock
- Pink round stickers
- Googly eyes
- Black marker
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
* I’ve used an unpainted popsicle stick, so it’s more visible and clear to you. However, you can also use a painted popsicle stick.
How to Make a Rainbow Popsicle Stick Craft
Step 1. Make sure that you have all your craft supplies ready to go! Then, get your black marker (or a pencil if you prefer) to draw a cloud on your white card stock.
Now, grab your scissors and cut out your cloud.
Step 2. It’s time to make that super cute face! Get your googly eyes ready and then attach them to your cloud.
Next, put your round pink stickers on your cloud to make the rosy cheeks and then draw a smile using your black marker. I chose to also draw little black lines along the edges for a little bit of a border.
You can do this if you wish, but it is optional. You can also use this time to add anything else to your face that you would like, including a nose, a silly tongue sticking out, or whatever else makes you happy.
Step 3. Time to get started on the rainbow! Get your rainbow sticks and arrange them in reverse rainbow order (pink, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red).
If you want, you can place the sticks so that they are at varying heights, with the central green stick being the lowest and the others getting progressively higher on either side.
Step 4. Get your plain, unpainted popsicle stick and put some glue on the back.
Step 5. Put your unpainted stick diagonally across the backs of your rainbow sticks so that the sticks form one single piece.
Step 6. Now, flip the whole piece over so that you are looking at the colorful rainbow sticks.
Step 7. We are almost finished!Glue your cloud to the top of the rainbow sticks.
Step 8. Allow your artwork to dry, and then you will have a fun and friendly rainbow cloud!

Who Can Make This
This rainbow craft project is truly excellent for anyone who loves a little splash of color! Fun and easy, it comes together very quickly.
This project is particularly good for small children who are learning all about colors. There are so many colors to discuss while making this craft.
It is a great learning tool for kids who need to review their colors. It is also an excellent supplemental project when learning about the rainbow.
Young children need to practice fine motor skills, and this craft helps them do that in many ways.
Between the gluing, the drawing, and the cutting, these rainbows offer plenty of opportunities to work on developing fine motor abilities.
Making these would be a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. If you get very lucky, maybe when you are done, you will get to see a real rainbow in the sky!
