If you have kids who love jewelry, you will adore this DIY paper bracelet project. My little girls are obsessed with pretty bracelets and these ones are amongst their favorites because of the beautiful paper stars.

The best thing about this project is that you probably already have everything you need to make them. With some construction paper, an elastic cord, a wide eye needle, scissors, a pencil, and a ruler, you can quickly and easily make your own paper star bracelets.

These turn out beautiful and would be a great stocking stuffer, goodie bag stuffer, or just a special gift for any kiddo. Let’s get started!

How to Make DIY Paper Bracelets

Step 1. We will start by cutting narrow strips out of our construction paper. To do this, grab your pencil and ruler and draw lines on paper.

The lines should be 9” long and .4” wide. Use a few different colors of paper.

I did 4 strips of each color for 12 strips in total. The amount of strips you will need depends on how big your hand (or your little one’s hand) is.

You can make a smaller bracelet with fewer strips or a larger one with more strips.

Step 2. Now, let’s start making our stars. Begin by taking a strip and holding one of the ends of it as shown.

Step 3. Make a loop by taking the end of the strip and placing it across the top.

Step 4. Then, pull the end through the loop.

Step 5. To tie it, pull it tightly but gently on both ends so that it is secure. The right end should be about 1 cm long.

Step 6. Flatten the looped part down and make some creases as shown.

Step 7. Fold the short end in so that it forms a pentagon-like shape.

Step 8. Now, take your long end and start wrapping it around your pentagon shape. To do this, wrap it around one time.

Step 9. Make sure that the part of the strip that you are wrapping is neatly aligned with the pentagon’s edge.

Step 10. Take your time to make sure that everything looks neat before wrapping it around again.

Step 11. Continue wrapping the long end around and around.

Step 13. Hide the loose end by tucking it underneath in the open part of the pentagon shape as shown.

Step 14. Now, use your thumb and index finger to make the points of the stars. To do this, pinch the ends of the pentagon into points and push each side of your pentagon in gently.

Step 15. Keep going around to all of the sides of your pentagon.

Step 16. Soon, you will have a star shape.

Step 17. Repeat the above steps to make stars from all your strips.

Step 18. Once you have enough stars, you can start assembling your bracelet. Start by threading the needle with the cord and start piercing your stars.

Step 19. Let the needle go through the entire star on both sides so that it stays firmly on the cord.

Step 20. Continue adding your stars.

Step 21. Once you have added all your stars, check that the bracelet fits before you cut and tie the cord. If it is too small, you can make and add more stars.

If it is too large, you can take some stars away.

Step 22. Finally, tie it tightly with two knots and cut off any excess cord. Your beautiful bracelet is ready!
