Let’s start by cutting narrow strips out of our construction paper.Use your ruler and pencil to make lines on your paper. They should be 9” long and .4” wide. Make your first star by taking a strip and holding one of the ends of it as shown.
Make a loop by taking the end of the strip and placing it across the top.
Then, pull the end through the loop.
To tie it, pull it tightly but gently on both ends so that it is secure. The right end should be about 1 cm long.
Flatten the looped part down and make some creases as shown.
Fold the short end in so that it forms a pentagon-like shape.
Now, take your long end and start wrapping it around your pentagon shape. To start, wrap it around one time.
Make sure that the part of the strip that you are wrapping is neatly aligned with the pentagon’s edge.
Make sure that everything looks neat before wrapping it around again.
Continue wrapping the long end around and around.
Eventually, you will have a small and neat pentagon shape.
Hide the loose end by tucking it underneath in the open part of the pentagon shape as shown.
Use your thumb and index finger to make the points of the stars. Pinch the ends of the pentagon into points and push each side of your pentagon in gently.
Keep doing this all around your pentagon.
Soon, you will have a star shape.
Repeat the above steps to make stars from all your strips.
Once you have enough stars, assemble your bracelet. Start by threading the needle with the cord and adding a star.
Let the needle go through the entire star on both sides so that it stays firmly on the cord.
Continue adding your stars.
Once you have added all your stars, check that the bracelet fits before you cut and tie the cord.
Finally, tie it tightly with two knots and cut off any excess cord. Your beautiful bracelet is ready!
