Have you ever tried making your own stress balls? These anti-stress crunchy ball are fun, easy, and quick to make, and leave you with a cute and useful finished product.
I love having stress balls on hand and my kids like them too. If you and your family are the same way, making these anti-stress crunchy balls is a great activity for you to do together.
I have tried making many different types of homemade stress balls, and these ones are a bit different because they use unique ingredients (but ones that you probably already have on hand!)
They have a fun “crunch” element, which comes from rice and beads. You will also need other basic supplies, including a water bottle, balloons, and cornstarch.
If you are feeling a bit extra stressed (or just need a fun and inexpensive craft that will keep your kids entertained), try creating your own anti-stress crunchy balls. I know you will be pleased with this great craft!
Supplies You’ll Need
- Empty water bottle
- Funnel made of plastic bottle*
- Rice
- Cornstarch
- Plastic Beads-different sizes
- Balloons
*I just cut the funnel out of the water bottle because a water bottle funnel has a wider pipe than a kitchen funnel, which works better for this project.
How to Make Anti-Stress Crunchy Ball
Step 1. Let’s start with the rice-filled stress ball. The first step is to blow a balloon a few times to inflate it just a little bit.
Step 2. Once it has a little air in it, stretch the tip of the balloon over the end of the funnel.
Step 3. Now, add some rice to the funnel. It should start falling straight into the balloon.
Keep adding as much rice as will fit into the balloon.
Step 4. Now, remove the balloon from the funnel and squeeze it to deflate and remove the air. Tie a knot.
Your first anti-stress crunch ball is ready!
Step 5. Let’s get started on our second ball! Begin by repeating the first couple of steps. To do this, grab another balloon and blow into it a few times to inflate it a little bit.
Then, stretch the tip of this balloon over the end of the funnel.
Step 6. Now, add your plastic beads to the funnel. Feel free to use several different-sized beads or just one size of bead.
Step 7. The beads should fall straight into the balloon. If they aren’t sliding in, you can help them along a little bit by pushing them down using a stick, pen, fork, or spoon.
Step 8. Once you are happy with the size of your balloon, remove it from the funnel and tie a knot. Your second ball is complete!
Step 9. Let’s get started on the third ball. This one starts a bit differently.
To begin, use your funnel to add cornstarch to the plastic water bottle.
Step 10. Then, blow up the balloon and twist the end as shown to keep the air in.
Step 11. Stretch the tip of the balloon over water bottle.
Step 12. The tip of the balloon should sit perfectly over the top of the water bottle, as shown.
Step 13. Turn the water bottle upside down and shake the bottle so that the cornstarch falls into the balloon.
Step 14. Squeeze to remove the excess air from the balloon. Be sure to do this slowly and cautiously to avoid spilling the cornstarch.
Now, tie a knot and enjoy using your stress balls!
