If you’re struggling to declutter and need some inspiration, stick around as I tour thirty-one things you can get rid of without thinking twice.
Decluttering is one of my favorite things to do when Spring rolls around. Or really, any season. It’s a chance to clear out the energy of the home and get rid of things that aren’t useful anymore.
But let’s face it, there are some things that we struggle to get rid of. That one piece of clothing that doesn’t fit anymore. That plant we tried to keep alive for so long. That one DVD we love so much!
But there are other things that you can get rid of at a moment’s notice.
1.Old Batteries

Old batteries aren’t useful and take up a ton of space. How many times have you picked up a battery thinking its new, only to find out its dead when you replace it? So frustrating!
That’s why old batteries can be disposed of without a second thought. Make sure to dispose of these properly, either at your local hardware store or recycling station.
2. Things you don’t use from your junk drawer

Your junk drawer is packed to the brim with things you don’t use anymore! Take out your junk drawer, sit down, and have an honesty hour with yourself.
If you pick something up that you haven’t needed for over three months, it’s time to toss it or move it to a more appropriate location.
3. Expired Medicine

5. Paper Clutter

Paper is the kind of clutter that sneaks up on you. If you’re seeing piles of paper accumulate in drawers or on countertops, it’s time to declutter them.
Do a quick sort through all that paper, and toss out everything that doesn’t serve you. For the pieces that are important, create a filing system so you can always find them.
6. Clothes that Don’t Fit
Source: @purifiedandorganized
It’s so tempting to hang on to clothes that don’t fit anymore, whether they’re ours or our family’s. But the truth is, most of the time, those clothes are just taking up space.
It’s best to donate these clothes to a thrift store. It’s sustainable, and it will immediately give you some more closet space.
7. Unused Cords and Cables
Source: @daylightdoodahs
With so much technology in our lives, it’s easy for us to collect a lot of unused cords and cables.
Rather than letting them form a big tangled heap in a drawer somewhere, take time to sort through them. Cable management ties like these are a great way to organize the ones you keep.
8. Unused Buttons

If you have a lot of unused buttons lying around, you have two options: donate them for someone else to use, or organize them so you can use them for crafting projects!
If you choose to organize them, you can find the perfect spot for each kind with a simple acrylic divider.
9. Linens You Don’t Need

Linens like extra towels, old bathmats, and even old curtains all take up so much space by virtue of their size! Take the time to sort through your linen closet and declutter those old linens.
Old towels can be reused as rags or cloths, while old sheets or curtains can be cleaned and donated.
10. Books that you’ve read

If you’re finding yourself with a few too many books and not enough space to keep them all, it might be worth decluttering them.
