Materials

Instructions

  • Take your pencil and trace your hand (or your child’s hand). If you are making more than one flower, you can trace your hand more than one time.
  • Cut out your hands.
  • Decorate your flowers using whatever designs and patterns bring you joy. I have used markers to decorate my flowers, but you can use whatever you want. Have fun making your flower pretty!
  • It’s time to start making your stem. First, get your 8.5” x 2” green construction paper. Place some glue on the paper.
  • Now, you will place your barbecue stick at one corner of your construction paper and begin carefully rolling that corner diagonally upward. You should notice that a long tube shape is starting to form.
  • Your stem should look like a long, thin tube-like object when you have finished rolling your paper around the barbecue stick.
  • Draw two small leaves onto your other piece of green construction paper and then cut these out.
  • Attach your leaves to your stem using glue.
  • Now, glue your stem to the back of your decorated hand flower. I have used craft glue on mine, which worked great. A hot glue gun would also work.
  • Enjoy your beautiful hand flower and repeat the steps if you want to make more!
