Instructions

  • First, get your rubbing alcohol and clean the ceramic bowl using a cotton pad.
  • Next, add ink to your bowl. Play with it and swirl it around.
It dries fast, so keep playing with it until it is dry.
  • If you want to add some interesting layers, use your dust blowing pear on the ink while it is still wet.
  • You can add another few drops of ink to your bowl if you would like.
  • Adding more ink and experimenting with your dust blowing pear will make your design more interesting, layered, and complex.
  • Keep adding ink and swirling it around as you go.
  • Enjoy getting creative and adding as many layers as you’d like.
  • You can add more ink in different colors and watch them blend together.
  • You can also experiment by adding a drop of rubbing alcohol to see what happens to the colors.
  • Keep working on your design until you like what you have. Let it dry completely.
  • This picture shows an example of how you can use just one color to make a simply designed trinket bowl.
  • Once your ink is completely dry, you can add varnish. This step is optional, but it will add some shine to your bowl.
Let the varnish dry completely and your bowl is finished!

Notes

*It is not food grade.
*91%-99% will work, whatever you have.
** Some water-based or alcohol-based varnishes may react with the ink and cause smudging. It's advisable to do a test before applying it to the entire surface. The brand krylon clear glaze is safest for the ink
