Is there anything cuter than a sweet little chick? I don’t think so! You can make this cute DIY chick craft with a few basic supplies like cardstock and pom poms.
These chicks are one of my favorite animal crafts because they are easy to make and oh-so-adorable!
This is a perfect project to do with little kids around Easter time or during the spring season. You can hang them up on windows or walls for some cute, seasonal décor.
These would also be a great accessory for a baby shower present or card. You could even make several of them and string them onto a banner for party décor!
If you want to make one (or several) of your own little chicks, keep reading. You will be amazed at how easy these are to create.
Let’s get started on making a chick!
Supplies You’ll Need
- Yellow card stock 5″x 5″
- Orange card stock 5″x 5″
- Large googly eyes
- Scissors
- Yellow pom poms
- Craft glue
- Pink circle dot stickers
- Large jar lid (or anything else that’s round)
- Pencil
How to Make a DIY Chick Craft
Step 1. We will start by tracing our circular lid to form our chick’s body. Grab your lid (or another circular object) and trace it onto the yellow cardstock.
Step 2. Do not fully complete the circle. You will need to leave a small gap at the top.
Step 3. Draw a cute chick’s comb at the top of your circle.
Step 4. It’s time to grab your scissors and cut your chick out!
Step 5. Get your orange cardstock and fold it in half. Draw the beak, wing, and little leg.
Step 6. Cut out your beak, wing, and leg. Next, cut the folded wings and legs in half so that you have two. Keep the beak as one piece.
Step 7. Get your glue and start gluing your chick’s features onto the back of your chick’s body.
Step 8. Keep gluing until both wings and legs are attached to your chick. Set the beak aside for later.
Step 9. Let’s start making that soft chick fur now! Get a pom pom and find the thread in the center. Cut the thread so that the pom pom comes apart.
Step 10. Spread the pom pom “fur” out and glue it onto the chick’s body. Continue doing this in batches.
Step 11. You will be finished creating the fur when your chick’s body is fully covered with fur.
Step 12. Add the eyes and beak to make your chick’s adorable little face.
Step 13. Next, use round pink stickers to add some cheeks to your chick. If you don’t have any stickers on hand, you can just cut out two small pink circles and glue them on to your chick’s face.
Step 14. We are all done making our cute little chick. Enjoy its soft fur and cute face!

How Long Does It Take to Make This Chick?
These chicks come together super quickly. You should be able to complete one in 15-30 minutes.
It will take a bit longer if you are helping a little one make a chick too, which makes it a great afternoon or rainy-day project!
